[CFTC Chairman: AI Agents May Be Able to Stake Ethereum and Issue Their Own Coins] According to a report by Cointelegraph on October 29th, Michael Seliger, Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), stated at the CFTC's inaugural Frontier Forum in Washington, D.C., that the idea of refrigerators autonomously purchasing groceries or even issuing their own memecoins using staked Ethereum is "no longer science fiction." He pointed out that the CFTC's regulatory framework revolves around "identifiable market participants," and autonomous AI software is raising questions about the applicability of these rules. He raised new rules regarding whether developers need to register, who is responsible when agents go out of control, how regulators can know for whom agents are trading, and whether "Know Your Agent" (KYA) is required.
