[Solana Agave 4.4 Expected to Introduce Multiple Protocol Updates, Account Storage Costs to be Reduced by 90%] According to Jinse Finance, on October 29th, the Solana validator client Agave 4.4 is expected to activate several protocol updates: allowing blocks to include transactions from fee payment accounts that failed verification; validators will skip the execution of such transactions instead of invalidating the entire block, reducing reliance on future asynchronous execution; automatically adjusting storage account capacity based on the new code size during program upgrades and returning excess SOL released during scaling down to designated accounts; unifying the Forward Error Correction (FEC) group used for block propagation to 32 data shards and 32 coded shards, simplifying block verification; and excluding inactive staking within the corresponding reward period in staking reward calculations, reducing consensus processing complexity. Furthermore, the Agave 4.4 release cycle is expected to complete the final three phases of the account storage rent waiver program, reducing the minimum balance per byte required to maintain rent-waiver status from the initial 6,960 lamports to 696 lamports, a cumulative reduction of 90%. According to Ghost's estimates, after the full implementation of these adjustments, approximately 3.08 million SOL (about $300 million) on-chain will be recoverable.
