A true one-person billion-dollar company. A smart, highly proactive lone CEO + AI can have a tremendous impact on the world. Just finished reading Anthropic's latest progress report. They've partnered with six pharmaceutical companies and research institutions, bringing Claude into drug development. From molecule design and drug optimization to experimental planning and application materials, they've basically been involved in the entire process. The most impressive figures are: Claude completed the initial draft of the application documents in just four hours, a process that would normally take three months to prepare manually; reviewed 1061 pages of production records; identified all 11 issues found manually; and uncovered seven additional omissions. Another pharmaceutical company used Claude to design 35,000 candidate molecules in a month. Anthropic acquired Mithril Medicine, a one-person AI startup. Founder Cody used Claude to manage contracts, logistics, and coordinate 11 external laboratories, along with 8 part-time consultants. In less than 18 months, he advanced a candidate therapy for a rare childhood muscle disease to mouse trials, with preliminary results showing that the treatment group had approximately twice the forelimb strength of the control group. Previously, starting a business required hiring dozens of people and setting up various departments to advance complex projects. Now, a truly industry-savvy individual, combined with AI and an external professional team, can accomplish tasks that previously required a full company to coordinate. In the future, the strength of a company may increasingly be measured not just by the number of employees, but by its ability to mobilize AI and external resources.
