[Trump Admits Vance Sent Letter to Iranian Officials, But Downplays Significance of Resuming Peace Talks] Golden Finance reported on October 29 that US President Trump admitted Vice President Vance had sent a letter to Iranian officials, but downplayed the importance of the contact, stating that the letter mainly concerned providing medical supplies to Iran. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Vance wrote to Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, attempting to restart peace talks. When asked by reporters on Wednesday whether he had instructed Vance to restart peace talks, Trump answered "no," but admitted that he had indeed approved Vance's contact with Iran. Trump stated, "They (Iran) need help with medical supplies and all sorts of other supplies. He (Vance) asked me what I thought, and I said, 'If you want to do this, no problem.' It's basically about sending supplies to help those who are sick."
