[Alphabet's Revenue and Profit Miss Expectations, AI Returns Under Pressure] According to DeepFlow TechFlow, on October 29th, data from Jinshi Data showed that Alphabet, Google's parent company, reported quarterly revenue and profit both below market expectations, indicating that the company has not yet been able to generate sufficient returns from its artificial intelligence business to justify its massive investments.
Alphabet stated that for the three months ending September 30th, excluding revenue paid to partners, revenue was $111.2 billion and net income per share was $2.12, both below Wall Street expectations. Capital expenditures to build its own and its customers' AI infrastructure reached record levels.
Alphabet stated that these investments have helped it rank among the top providers of computing power to AI companies such as Anthropic and Meta. The company is also developing its own AI models and integrating them into products such as its search engine, YouTube, and Gmail. However, relative to the scale of these expenditures, these efforts have not yet yielded corresponding returns, and Alphabet's stock price fell as much as 7.9% in after-hours trading.
