In summary, Warsh's speech was very concise, revealing nothing of interest or uncertainty. The main concern was the Fed's December rate hike, to which Warsh replied that he didn't know and that a decision would depend on the data – typical of the Fed.
Other information, I felt, was completely unremarkable. When asked about the balance sheet, Warsh didn't give a proper answer. And when a reporter asked a gossipy question, Warsh certainly wouldn't answer.
Overall, Warsh believes the US economy is strong, but the US is currently experiencing high inflation. He believes the economy isn't overheating and that financial conditions can be tightened without increasing unemployment.
Furthermore, Warsh predicts the Fed will only have 7 policy meetings in 2027, 6 in 2028, and 8 in 2026 and earlier. Warsh hopes to avoid forward guidance by reducing the number of meetings.
