[CFTC Chairman Raises Questions on AI Agent Regulation: Is "Know Your Agent" Necessary?] According to CoinDesk, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) held an artificial intelligence forum on Wednesday. CFTC Chairman Mike Selig stated that the convergence of superintelligence, cryptocurrencies, and modern financial infrastructure could transform markets, with AI agents leading the market towards "autonomous trading." He also raised a series of regulatory questions, including whether AI agent developers need to register, who is responsible when agents go out of control, how regulators identify who agents are acting on behalf of, and whether a new "Know Your Agent" (KYA) identification mechanism is needed. Selig noted that CFTC staff have already extensively used AI to monitor the derivatives market, and cryptocurrency rulemaking could serve as a model for addressing these issues. No new AI rules or guidelines were announced at the forum.
