[Financial Institutions Predict: Fed May Raise Rates by 25 Basis Points in December] Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Federal Reserve will announce its October interest rate decision at 2:00 AM Beijing time on the 29th. The market generally believes that the Fed will choose to hold rates steady at this meeting, with the market currently betting only on a 9.4% probability of a rate hike. The Fed raised rates by 25 basis points at its September meeting, the first rate hike in over three years. However, the rate hike did not alleviate price pressures; the US Consumer Price Index rose 3.7% year-on-year in September, higher than August's 3.4%. Analysts believe that from a risk-reward perspective, maintaining the current interest rate in October may be a more appropriate outcome. Currently, major financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, UBS, and HSBC all predict that the Fed will raise rates by 25 basis points in December.
