[Dubai Drives Urban Governance Transformation with Data and AI, Ranks Second Globally in BCG Smart Cities Index] According to a report by Fortune on October 28th, Dubai's government agency, Digital Dubai, is driving government transformation by integrating cross-departmental data and AI. In April of this year, the agency launched an AI integration matrix framework, which has already guided the deployment of over 100 AI systems to reduce redundant construction. Its Dubai Population Now platform integrates multi-source data on residency, transportation, and healthcare to estimate population in real time. By the end of 2025, Dubai's resident population is projected to reach 4.58 million, with a daily peak population of 6.39 million, the extra 1.81 million representing approximately 40% of the resident population. In August, Dubai ranked second globally among 61 cities in the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Smart Cities Index, ranking first in the adoption of AI technology and smart city solutions. The Dubai government also proposed that the AI-driven government initiatives should generate more than 10 billion dirhams (approximately US$2.72 billion) in GDP growth within two years of operation.
