According to CoinDesk, Google will launch Google Multi-Party Compute (MPC), a multi-party computation security service for financial institutions, to protect and transfer cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets. The product is currently in private preview, with several large financial institutions participating in testing, and is expected to be commercially available in early 2027.
Google's parent company, Alphabet, has already begun using the technology to protect its digital assets on the Ethereum and Solana networks, but has not disclosed the specific asset types. The service reduces the risk of single points of failure by distributing private key control across multiple independent environments and combining transaction approval strategies, threshold signatures, and key recovery capabilities. Google states that customers retain control of the key material, and Google cannot access the keys in unencrypted form.
