[AI Trading Reversal May Impact Dollar's Safe-Haven Status, Increased Risk of Foreign Capital Withdrawal] According to a report by Jinshi Data on October 28th, as overseas funds continue to flow into US AI-related stocks, corporate bonds, and power infrastructure, the link between the US dollar and the US technology investment boom is becoming increasingly close. Dominic Bunning, Head of Foreign Exchange Strategy at Nomura Securities, stated that if AI trading reverses, it remains uncertain whether the dollar can benefit from safe-haven demand as it has in the past.
Analysts point out that if AI investment returns fall short of expectations, it could trigger a sell-off in technology assets, widening corporate credit spreads, and a slowdown in US economic growth, thereby weakening the dollar's yield advantage and support for capital inflows. However, if global dollar funding demand surges, the dollar may still strengthen due to short-term liquidity needs.
