Bitcoin is showing an extremely unusual signal: the price is still around $80,000, but retail investor interest has plummeted to a five-year low!
Latest Google Trends data shows:
Global search activity for the keyword "Bitcoin" has fallen to near its lowest level in the past five years!
What does this mean?
During the 2021 Bitcoin bull market, retail investors were frantically searching for Bitcoin.
Search activity also surged significantly during the price increase in 2024-2025.
But what about now?
The price of Bitcoin remains at a relatively high historical level, but market search activity has almost reached rock bottom!
And this is precisely what's starting to excite me.
Because what truly worries me isn't the lack of discussion about Bitcoin.
It's that everyone is talking about Bitcoin, everyone wants to buy, and even those completely unfamiliar with investing are frantically chasing the price.
That kind of market atmosphere is actually more alarming.
The most frenzied phase of a bull market often doesn't end when the market cools down, but rather gradually draws to a close during the peak of widespread euphoria.
The current situation is completely different.
Low search activity indicates that public interest in Bitcoin remains limited.
However, this doesn't mean retail investors are completely absent, nor does it necessarily mean the price has bottomed out.
Google Trends measures relative search activity, not actual buying volume.
What's truly worth anticipating is: what will happen if ETF funds continue to flow back in, spot demand increases, and retail investor attention begins to recover from its lows?
That could signify a new round of demand expansion in the market.
I don't need everyone to be bullish on Bitcoin right now.
I'd rather see a gradual strengthening of the capital and price structure before the market becomes completely overheated.
Because the best investment opportunities often don't appear when everyone agrees with you.
When no one is searching for Bitcoin anymore, do you think this is a sign that the bull market is over, or the calm before the next wave of activity?
Take responsibility for your analysis with your position size.
