Why is there such a huge difference between US-listed chip stocks and A-share chip stocks?
On the same day, US-listed chip stocks rise, while A-share chip stocks fall;
Once US-listed chip stocks fall, A-share chip stocks plummet.
This isn't a difference in "fundamentals," but a difference in "shareholding structure."
In the A-share market, chip stocks account for 42% of the total market capitalization in mainland China and Hong Kong, and 57% of the trading volume. Shareholding is highly concentrated; any slight disturbance triggers a chain reaction of selling.
In the US stock market, chip stocks are held globally.
In the A-share market, chip stocks are held by retail investors.
The same sector, different pricing logic.
