[Reuters Survey: High Global Inflation to Persist into Next Year, 31 Economies Raise 2027 Inflation Forecasts] According to Jinse Finance, a Reuters survey this month of more than 500 economists covering 50 economies worldwide indicates that high inflation in the global economy will persist into next year. The survey showed that economists raised their 2027 inflation forecasts for 31 economies and their growth forecasts for 23 economies; among the 21 developed economies, 15 saw their inflation forecasts revised upwards. The report lists sources of pressure including: the Middle East conflict pushing up energy costs, potentially solidifying price increases; global investment in AI exceeding $1 trillion since last year; and the fact that most central banks have only raised interest rates a few times or not at all previously, but more may turn to rate hikes if inflationary pressures spread further. The global bond market has experienced a sell-off and rising yields in recent months, tightening financial conditions; and oil prices have remained above $100 per barrel since October 7th, having risen by more than 60% since the outbreak of the Middle East conflict approximately eight months ago.
