[General Compute Raises $100 Million in Series A Funding, Valuation at $800 Million] According to Jinse Finance, on October 27th, AI computing cloud service provider General Compute announced the completion of a $100 million Series A funding round, led by Blackbird Ventures and Abstract Ventures. The post-money valuation is $800 million, compared to its $60 million valuation after its seed round in May. Co-founded and CEO Finn Puklowski, the company focuses on building cloud services using dedicated inference chips from Nvidia's competitors, including SambaNova (with whom a $400 million procurement agreement was previously reached), Positron, and Cerebras. The company has already signed a major client with annualized recurring revenue of $100 million. Its strategy involves avoiding building large data centers, instead using smaller power supplies, leasing data center space from other companies, and converting former Bitcoin mining farms into AI model runtime environments. Puklowski projects a deployment of 75 megawatts of computing power and access to 200 megawatts of electricity by 2027.
