[AI Policing Startup 22one Valued at Nearly $400 Million, Sequoia and General Catalyst Participate] According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing the Financial Times, London-based covert operations AI startup 22one has been valued at nearly $400 million in its latest funding round. Investors include Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst, Lux Capital, and Creandum. Specific funding amounts were not disclosed. The company was founded by Steven Richardson, former Chief Superintendent of Detective Services at Merseyside Police in 2021, and later Head of UK Policing at Amazon Web Services. He also previously worked at Palantir and co-founded Riven, whose DocDefender product is used by nearly half of the UK police force, achieving 92% accuracy in a Bedfordshire pilot and saving over 9,500 hours of officer and staff time annually. 22one has not yet released product details, but positions itself as using AI to improve policing and investigation efficiency. The UK's Police AI program, PoliceAI, was launched in June this year. It will invest £75 million over three years to pilot digital evidence processing in up to 10 police forces. The pilot period will be from 2026 to 2027, with full rollout expected in 2027.
