[Hong Kong Monetary Authority Warns of Scams Involving Fake Digital Hong Kong Dollar Projects, Police Report Filed]
Odaily reports that the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a statement disclosing numerous public inquiries regarding fraudulent digital Hong Kong dollar projects. These fraudulent agreements claim that loans can be converted into digital Hong Kong dollar assets, enticing the public to sign such agreements.
The HKMA sternly clarifies that these fraudulent agreements and loan projects have absolutely no connection to the HKMA and emphasizes that it will not contact the public regarding personal financial matters or transfer funds. All institutions participating in the "Digital Hong Kong Dollar" pilot program and other sandbox programs under the HKMA will not raise funds or offer financial and investment products to the public under the name of such programs.
The HKMA has filed a police report regarding the incidents and reminds the public to verify relevant information through the HKMA's official website. If you have provided personal information to suspicious websites or applications, or suspect you have been scammed, you should immediately contact the police or the Hong Kong Police Force Crime Headquarters Information Centre.
