According to Yonhap News Agency, Shinhan Card, a South Korean credit card company, announced a collaboration with Dunamu, the parent company of Upbit, to pilot a token payment system based on the GIWA Chain, the first of its kind in the South Korean credit card industry. The test will be conducted at Shinhan Card's headquarters merchants for employees. Employees will receive Shinhan Card-issued tokens through GIWA Wallet and complete the payment by scanning a QR code. The system utilizes Dojang's on-chain identity verification technology to verify employee identities, allowing only pre-registered wallets to participate in transactions. Shinhan Card stated that it plans to commercialize the system after relevant legislation is completed and gradually expand its access to merchants and global blockchain networks.
