[Ethereum Fixes Glamsterdam Vulnerability to Prevent Staking Deposits from Being Mistakenly Credited to Builder Accounts] According to CoinDesk, Ethereum developers have fixed a vulnerability in the Glamsterdam upgrade that could have allowed operators to withdraw ETH intended for new validators from the staking service. The fix, which changed the rules for processing validator deposits, was merged on Monday, after developers rejected the change a week earlier. Researcher avsetsin discovered that if an operator first registered as a builder with a specific public key, and the staking service subsequently deposited ETH with the same key to launch a validator, the draft rules would credit both deposits to the builder. avsetsin stated that this was a conditional code discovery, not a confirmed real-time exploit, and existing checks can prevent the attack; no losses have been reported so far. The new rules prioritize deposits based on withdrawal vouchers, ensuring that validator deposits remain with the validators.
