The NBA has partnered with Kalshi and Polymarket to officially enter the prediction market. The NBA announced that it has designated Kalshi and Polymarket as its "preferred prediction market trading platforms" and signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to cooperate on the regulation and information sharing of NBA-related prediction markets. The two platforms will obtain licenses for NBA intellectual property and marketing promotions and will be able to use official NBA data to settle related markets. In return, the platforms must restrict the types of markets that can be traded, prohibit league and team personnel from trading NBA event contracts, and share information with the NBA during investigations of suspicious transactions. Furthermore, the NBA has expanded its partnership with DraftKings to the prediction market and plans to reach similar agreements with more sports betting partners in the coming weeks.
