a16z Crypto has officially changed its name to a16z Frontier. The biggest investor in the crypto world, which started with its investment in Coinbase in 2013 and raised a $7.6 billion dedicated crypto fund, has now dropped "Crypto" from its name. Chris Dixon explained it elegantly: the boundaries between crypto, fintech, and mainstream technology are blurring. In other words: Wall Street has taken the usable stablecoins and tokenization; we're not going to pretend to be the altcoins anymore. Institutions never issue announcements when they run away; they just change their names. While you're still waiting for the altcoin season, they've already changed their fund names.
