[OpenAI Releases GPT-6.1 Terra, API Price Reduced by 50% Compared to Predecessor] According to TechFlow, on October 27th, OpenAI announced the release of GPT-6.1 Terra, focusing on improving visual reasoning, computer operation, factual accuracy, and software engineering capabilities. This model is designed for everyday office work and high-frequency automation tasks, and can be used to process technical drawings, fill out forms, edit videos, and develop software.
Regarding performance, OpenAI stated that GPT-6.1 Terra's factual error rate in internal high-difficulty prompt word tests has decreased from 53.6% for GPT-5.6 Terra at low inference intensity to 16.7%; at the highest inference intensity, the error rate has further decreased to 4.3%. In the Terminal-Bench 4.0 programming benchmark test, the model achieved a task completion rate of 50.3% at the highest inference intensity, higher than GPT-5.6 Terra's 21.5%.
In terms of pricing, GPT-6.1 Terra's standard API is priced 50% lower than GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol, charging $1 per million input tokens, $0.05 per cached input tokens, and $5 per output token.
This model is now available to ChatGPT Work and Codex Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users, and developers can also call it via the OpenAI API.
