[Arthur Hayes Explains Flop Network's Pricing and Derivatives Scheme] Arthur Hayes has published an article outlining his vision for Flop Network, calling FLOPs "food for AI agents" that can be directly exchanged for computing power (FLOPS). He believes that if Flop becomes the payment network for AI agents, the FLOP/computing power exchange rate will become the global benchmark for spot computing power. He points out that currently, computing power lacks a globally unified price, and the prices of chips and AI tokens are derivatives of computing power; therefore, the focus should be on pricing computing power itself. Hayes proposes that Flop Network produces blocks every second, and the receipts within each block record the latency, floating-point operations, and transaction fees of inference tasks, using this information to calculate the FLOP/computing power exchange rate. The network supports reserving computing power for delivery up to 30 days in the future and standardizing it into tradable Flop computing power units (FCU), similar to deliverable forwards.
