Apple claims the iPhone Duo screen issue is only affecting a "very small number" of devices.
However, user return orders have overwhelmed Apple's servers.
One overseas user, skeptical, manually tested the screen, folding it 75,000 times, resulting in a noticeable crack. See the video below.
Apple remains defiant, only acknowledging an internal screen issue in a small number of iPhone Duo devices, claiming most devices are unaffected.
But in China, a large number of users are cancelling their iPhone Duo orders, voting with their feet.
The official stance is plausible: "Only a small number of devices are affected; please contact AppleCare for a replacement."
Reality is contradicting Apple's claims.
An Australian user experienced a screen crack along the hinge after only 6 hours and less than 20 opening and closing cycles.
An American user experienced an internal screen crack after 4 folds, before even completing initial setup.
A Chinese user experienced a screen with distorted images and partial bulges the next day after unfolding normally.
Ironically, Apple customer service themselves stated, "Many customers are currently canceling their orders."
Users are voting with their feet, more honestly than any statement.
The teardown organization iFixit also concluded: The central support structure of the hinge may not have retracted correctly when closed, causing stress to concentrate on a single point as the hard components press against the soft screen.
This isn't luck. It's a design flaw.
Apple says "most devices are unaffected."
Users say: I'm not gambling. I'm returning them immediately.
Rumors suggest that sales of Huawei's foldable phones have surged!
Why did Huawei's foldable screens not falter, while Apple's all-out failure?
Because their design logic is completely reversed.
Huawei wasn't just lucky.
They spent seven years meticulously researching hinges, screen materials, and large-screen adaptations, thoroughly testing everything.
The Xuanwu waterdrop hinge, made of 2350MPa rocket steel, provides ample space for the screen.
The triple-layered, ultra-tough composite structure increases bending resistance by 100%.
Huawei addressed the hinge's load-bearing capacity and screen resilience before focusing on thinness.
Apple's core problem was that in its pursuit of a thinner body, it drastically compressed the hinge's internal space, causing rigid components to directly press against the flexible screen, leaving no outlet for stress.
Apple prioritized achieving the thinnest possible design, then gambled with the screen and hinge within extremely tight tolerances.
The result? The tolerances failed, and the screen cracked. This is the price of design arrogance.
If Steve Jobs knew, he'd probably be so angry with Apple's current design team that he'd crawl out of his room in the middle of the night.
While Huawei's Yu Chengdong is seeing the state of Apple's foldable phone, he's probably laughing in his sleep, able to proudly proclaim:
Huawei's foldable phone is far ahead!
