WLFI has been facing a lot of trouble lately. While the lawsuit involving @worldlibertyfi's CEO, Sun, is still ongoing, a Circle shareholder has filed a lawsuit against Trump and WorldlibertyFi in Washington federal court. This time, the lawsuit targets two transactions: a $500 million acquisition of a 49% stake and a $2 billion Binance investment settled in USD1, accusing Trump of profiting from his public office and violating the Foreign Remuneration Clause. However, this is a lawsuit initiated by an individual shareholder; Circle has explicitly stated that it was not involved, and the allegations are still pending.
Previously, in response to Sun's accusations, the project team countersued for defamation and accused him of short selling. Now, facing a new lawsuit, their financial situation is also turbulent: as of October 19th, the market capitalization of USD1 decreased by approximately $400 million in about two weeks due to redemptions, a drop of over 9%.
Why were the tokens frozen? How is governance protected? What is the relationship between foreign funds and the interests of the Trump family? These questions need to be clarified. In the financial business, especially with stablecoins, trust is ultimately paramount. No matter how strong the background, it cannot replace accountability to investors.
