Holy crap, another hardware wallet has been compromised! Foundation has confirmed a hack. Hackers used leaked Cloudflare API keys to send phishing emails from the Foundation's official domain. These emails contained customers' real names, home addresses, phone numbers, and even purchase records from several years ago. The hackers' modus operandi was to impersonate official representatives, informing users of a supply chain security issue with the Passport hardware wallet requiring an urgent recall, and then tricking users into entering their mnemonic phrases on a fake website. CEO Zach Herbert admitted that some backend systems were compromised, and customer support emails may have been compromised as well. However, the team disabled the hackers' email sending privileges within 10 minutes of receiving user reports. With hardware wallets constantly being compromised, where are the secure hardware wallets anymore? Might as well make your own hardware wallet—an iPhone!
