[Musk: Super AI May Not Rule Humanity; Work and Money Will Gradually Lose Meaning in the Future]
According to Odaily Planet Daily, Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently stated in a conversation with Walter Isaacson, author of the Steve Jobs biography, that while future artificial superintelligence (ASI) may reach intelligence levels thousands of times greater than humans, it is highly unlikely to actively seek control of human society. Rather than being ruled by AI, humanity is more likely to face the risk of being ignored by superintelligence. He believes that AI development should be centered on curiosity and the pursuit of truth, avoiding unpredictable behavior caused by conflicting rules.
On the economic front, Musk predicts that digital superintelligence alone could drive global economic output growth by 20% to 30%, equivalent to an additional $30 trillion annually. If embodied intelligence, such as humanoid robots, achieves large-scale application and further develops space resources, the global economy could theoretically expand a million times. At that time, humans may no longer need to rely on labor for a living; work will gradually transform into personal interest, and the importance of traditional currency may also decline.
Musk also predicted that AI is expected to surpass individual human intelligence by 2026-2027 and exceed the collective intelligence of all humanity by 2030-2031. The number of humanoid robots could reach at least 100 million in the next 5 years and exceed 1 billion within 10 years. (New Intelligence)
