[Ukraine Seeks Starlink Alternative, Signs Letter of Intent with Nokia and ICEYE] Golden Finance reports that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced last Thursday that it has signed letters of intent with Finnish technology company Nokia and satellite manufacturer ICEYE to jointly develop new defense and satellite communication capabilities. Anderson, founder and CEO of venture capital firm Space Capital, stated that such an alternative may "take another two to three years to realize," and "it will take even longer to reach the scale of Starlink." He also indicated that StarShield services may be more difficult to replace. "Pentagon contract documents show that SpaceX is the only supplier capable of meeting some of its needs until 2026." Furthermore, even Starlink's competitors rely on SpaceX's launch services to put satellites into orbit.
