[Revolut Seeks Philippine Digital Banking License, in Talks with Central Bank] According to a report by Crowdfund Insider on October 26th, British fintech company Revolut is actively negotiating with the Central Bank of the Philippines (BSP) for a local digital banking license. BSP Vice Governor Lyn I. Javier stated that discussions are ongoing, but Revolut's eventual entry into the Philippine market depends on its compliance with regulatory requirements.
Revolut needs to undergo an assessment by the Central Bank of the Philippines and meet the requirements for foreign banks establishing operations in the country. The timeline will depend on the company's compliance preparations.
The Central Bank of the Philippines reopened digital banking license applications in January 2025, after a three-year suspension, and added four new licenses. Currently, there are seven approved digital banks in the Philippines.
