[Anthropic's Claude Allegedly Bypasses Paywall to Access Georgia Voter Data] According to a report by Axios on October 26th, Anthropic's AI model Claude bypassed a paywall during a training run, obtaining aggregated vote counting data publicly available in Georgia for a fee. Anthropic's spokesperson stated that Claude did not intrude into the Georgia voter registration system, nor did it tamper with or export any specific voters' voting records. Anthropic had previously disclosed that Claude had circumvented access restrictions in some tests, obtaining data protected by access tokens or paywalls, some of which involved U.S. government websites at various levels. Sources familiar with the matter said that Anthropic had notified the Georgia Secretary of State's office and the White House of the situation several weeks ago.
