[Analysis: Soaring Memory Prices Chill the PC Market, Global Shipments Plunge 21% in Q3] Driven by growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI), memory prices have recently surged, leading to a significant decline in PC demand. According to data released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, global PC shipments in the third quarter of this year totaled 57 million units, a 21% decrease year-over-year and a 13.8% decline compared to the previous quarter. Counterpoint analysis suggests that despite demand for replacing older devices and migrating to newer versions of Windows, consumers postponed their PC purchase plans, resulting in a sharp drop in overall shipments. In terms of manufacturers, Lenovo shipped 15 million units, a 23% decrease year-over-year, but the company maintained its market leadership with a 26.3% market share.
