Yesterday, with US stocks closed 24/7, Bitcoin briefly dipped below $8, but quickly recovered above $80.
This was mainly due to WTI oil prices surging above $103 and low liquidity over the weekend.
This morning, Trump said, "We might strike again, or we might reach an agreement."
Can we believe this? With less than 10 days until the midterm elections, Iran is actively trying to antagonize Trump during this period. With oil prices rising, will Trump actually reach an agreement first because of the midterm elections, and then discuss it again afterward?
If so, the current high oil prices will indeed fall immediately, and US stocks and Bitcoin will rebound.
However, if Trump doesn't back down and Iran continues to cause trouble at this stage, oil prices might rise further. Can Bitcoin hold above $8? Of course, this would also negatively impact US stocks.
Currently, Trump is under the most pressure. After the midterm elections, the pressure will shift to Iran.
Will there be another strike then, and the geopolitical situation will naturally come to an end, especially since the US and China will meet again at APEC in November.
This would likely cause oil prices to fall, giving US stocks and Bitcoin a temporary respite.
Why a respite? Because based on current trends, the October CPI data to be released in November might not be very positive. Even if there's no interest rate hike in October, what about December?
It's still uncertain.
Therefore, in general, given the current expectation of interest rate hikes, a one-sided upward trend for US stocks and Bitcoin is unlikely.
However, a slight respite and a rebound opportunity are still possible.
But whether shorting oil prices, or trading core US stocks like Micron and SPCX, or swing trading in Bitcoin, it's best to diversify your portfolio.
Then, observe changes in geopolitical conditions, i.e., oil prices, before making further decisions.
