[Claude Code Desktop Creator Anthony Morris Announces Departure from Anthropic] Beating AI News: Anthony Morris, creator of the Claude Code desktop version, has announced his departure from Anthropic. Claude Code was initially primarily operated via command line. Morris spearheaded the development of the desktop version, allowing users to manage AI programming tasks through a visual interface, run multiple Agent sessions simultaneously, view execution progress, and track code modifications. On October 14th, the team released a major update further improving multitasking and session management. Morris was still introducing the new features at the time, stating that the team would continue to improve based on user feedback. In his farewell post, Morris stated that he developed the desktop version because he believed everyone can be a creator. Leaving friends and a product to which he poured his heart and soul was the most difficult decision of his career. He also joked that he finally had time to play GTA VI and indicated that he would announce his next move soon. It's worth noting that another Claude Code engineer, Thariq Shihipar, had also previously announced his departure. He had worked at Anthropic for over a year and said he planned to take a break before starting a new job. Neither of them disclosed the specific reasons for their departure. [Original Link]
