[OpenAI's Price Cuts Yield Significant Results; Multiple Anthropic Clients Switch Coding Business to OpenAI] According to Jinse Finance, on October 25th, OpenAI's strategy of lowering prices to compete with Anthropic has begun to show results. Parker Conrad, CEO of human resources software company Rippling, stated that in May of this year, 57% of the coding work for hundreds of engineers at the company was handled by Anthropic models, while OpenAI models handled only 16%. The situation has since reversed; now, 52% of coding tasks are handled by OpenAI models, with Anthropic models accounting for only 18%. The company found OpenAI's price more competitive due to cost-cutting considerations. Sources revealed that code development platform Replit has migrated most of its AI budget from Anthropic to OpenAI in recent months. Some founders received discounts of 20%-30% on official asking prices, while OpenAI has recently offered even greater discounts. Jonathan Cornelison, CEO of DataCamp, a corporate training service provider with about 200 employees that purchases large quantities of Anthropic models, said that OpenAI offered a 40% discount on the models used in their internal product development, on the condition that they use Codex instead of competitors like OpenCode or Claude Code.
