[Coinbase Derivatives Suspends Futures and Perpetual Contract Trading for Up to 9 Hours for Maintenance] According to Jinse Finance, at 5:00 AM Central Time on October 24th, Coinbase Derivatives (a subsidiary of the regulated entity Coinbase Financial Markets) initiated scheduled maintenance, suspending trading in futures and perpetual contracts for up to 9 hours, ending around 2:00 PM that day. During maintenance, account login and balances remain accessible, but new positions cannot be opened or existing orders modified. This window serves a dual purpose: firstly, it's part of the quarterly routine maintenance cycle, and secondly, it's part of the Futures Industry Association (FIA) annual disaster recovery exercise. In comparison, a similar maintenance in January 2026 lasted only about 3 hours, making this approximately three times longer. Due to advance notice, no significant price fluctuations or liquidity tightening were observed during the suspension. Coinbase Derivatives is transitioning some products to a true 24/7 trading model and gradually eliminating daily closing times on weekdays, but scheduled maintenance windows are retained. Leveraged position holders should allow for periods during which they cannot adjust or close their positions.
