Elon Musk says Neuralink will implant its first vision devices within 6–12 MONTHS, claiming the technology could help people blind from birth see. “We’re going to write directly to your visual cortex… and you’re going to see.” The experimental Blindsight device aims to bypass damaged eyes and optic nerves by stimulating the brain’s visual processing system. Musk’s longer-term ambition goes beyond restoring sight to ultra-high-definition vision and the ability to perceive infrared, ultraviolet and even radar signals. These remain ambitious predictions, rather than demonstrated human capabilities. Blindsight has received FDA Breakthrough Device designation, which is not approval for general use.
