🇺🇸UPDATE: Tether faces a Senate probe over millions paid to former White House crypto adviser Bo Hines' firm.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal, the top Democrat on the Senate’s investigations subcommittee, is demanding ALL contracts, payment records, crypto wallet addresses and lobbying communications by November 6.
The inquiry follows WSJ reporting that a Tether arrangement generated $6.3 MILLION for Nxum, with payments beginning while Hines retained a one-third stake and helped shape the GENIUS Act. Tether later hired him to lead its U.S. operations.
Blumenthal says the arrangement raises potential federal ethics, anticorruption and lobbying-law violations. Tether says an external counsel investigation found no wrongdoing.
The scrutiny has now escalated from a media investigation to formal Senate demands for records.
