[US OCC Removes Automatic 7-Day Redemption Extension from Final Stablecoin Rules] According to Jinse Finance, on October 24th, the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) released the GENIUS Act final stablecoin rules, effective January 18, 2027. The rules remove the previously proposed clause for "automatic extension to 7 calendar days upon exceeding a demand threshold," redefining "timely redemption" as the point at which the issuer initiates payment (or credits the issuer's account upon request), separating it from off-exchange bank settlement—bank settlement is now a separate step after the redemption definition endpoint. The maximum normal redemption period is two business days after a qualified request (excluding weekends and federal holidays). Section 15.12(d) stipulates that if a brand's redemption requests exceed 10% of its circulating supply within a single 24-hour period, the issuer must notify the OCC's supervisory office within 24 hours; extensions are at the supervisory discretion. The OCC emphasizes that issuers cannot delay redemption due to onboarding defects. The revised confidential PS-01 report will track outstanding tokens, average redemption duration, and redemption amount exceeding 2 business days. The first reporting dates are January 25, 2027 (weekly report) and March 31, 2027 (quarterly report), both subject to OMB approval.
