[SEC Division of Examinations Lists Tokenization as a High-Risk Area for Clearing Agencies in Fiscal Year 2027] According to Jinse Finance, on Friday, October 23, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Division of Examinations released its fiscal year 2027 examination priorities, listing "tokenization" as a high-risk area for clearing agencies for the first time. It is again listed alongside securities tokenization, superintelligence (SI), extended trading hours, and quantum computing in the Regulation SCI section as an emerging trend in market system review. This term did not appear in the 2025 and 2026 priorities; the 2026 version adds securities lending and tokenization. Director of Examinations Keith Cassidy stated that the market is rapidly evolving, and examination projects must evolve accordingly. Chairman Paul Atkins emphasized that examination is an important tool for promoting compliance and protecting investors. The document does not use the terms "crypto," "blockchain," or "stablecoin" (the 2025 version had a separate section on Crypto Assets, which was removed in 2026), and the employee statement is not legally binding, covering over 34,000 registered institutions. In September, the European ESMA included AI and tokenization in its 2027 regulatory agenda.
