[US Intelligence Says Iran Intensifies Actions Against US Officials] According to a report by Axios on the 23rd, US intelligence believes Iran has "significantly intensified" its actions against US diplomats and officials in the Middle East and other regions, with some potentially lethal attack plots entering an "advanced phase." The report states that the website obtained a non-classified memo submitted to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the 23rd. In the memo, Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton warned that intelligence regarding Iranian attack plots needed to be shared with more US personnel who do not currently have access to such intelligence. The report notes that the memo did not disclose specific targets, which countries outside the Middle East were involved, or details of the attack plans, but it indicated that the intelligence had been shared with senior State Department officials. The report also states that due to the security situation, the US State Department earlier this week ordered the evacuation of non-essential personnel and their families from the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia and consulates in Jeddah and Dhahran. On the 23rd, the State Department further ordered a reduction in diplomatic and government personnel at its embassies in the UAE, Lebanon, Qatar, and Jordan. This intelligence is one of the reasons why the US government decided to reduce the number of US embassy and consulate staff in the Middle East. (Xinhua)
