The US Internal Revenue Service plans to launch a reformed voluntary disclosure system by the end of November, with no separate procedure for cryptocurrencies Foresight News reported that according to Forbes, Jarod Koopman, head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), stated that the IRS plans to launch a reformed voluntary disclosure system (VDP) before the end of November. The goal is to shorten the case processing cycle for taxpayers who submit complete documents to a maximum of 120 days, reduce the penalty amount under the current system, and consider allowing arrangements such as installment payments. In addition, Koopman explicitly stated that the IRS will not establish a separate voluntary disclosure program for digital assets such as cryptocurrencies, and digital assets will be treated the same as other taxable income sources and processed through general virtual data processing programs (VDPs).
