In North Carolina: 1) Ballot Status: Check your ballot status at: https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/ Or sign up for BallotTrax to get alerts on its status: https://northcarolina.ballottrax.net/voter/ 2) PENDING Ballots: If your mail in ballot says "PENDING" you may file a provision ballot in person as a backup. Speak to the election worker, and list "Voter Already Voted" as the provisional reason. This is expressly authorized under North Carolina law. Only one ballot will be accepted, so if you are unsure about your mail-in/absentee ballot, it is okay to file a provisional. 3) REJECTED Ballots: If your ballot is "REJECTED" without a chance to cure, you may vote again in-person. It is not illegal to vote again regardless of the reason the ballot was rejected. No one can tell you that you are not allowed to file a ballot. 4) PENDING CURE Ballots: The status "Pending Cure" means your ballot *currently* does not count. Your county may call or email you, or send details in writing via post on how to cure your ballot. DO NOT wait for them to contact you. If it says pending cure, contact your county immediately: https://vt.ncsbe.gov/BOEInfo/ You can also file a provisional ballot in-person while pursuing a cure, listing the "Voter Already Voted" reason as the provisional cause. Only one ballot will be counted. If the absentee ballot does not get cured, the provisional will be counted. Ballot curing is usually slow, so if you see a cure needed, act now.
