Wu Shuo learned that blockchain security company Blockaid has released the "2026 Fund Recovery Threat Situation Report", tracking 60 major on chain attacks that occurred from January 5 to August 5, 2026, involving stolen assets of approximately 1.18 billion US dollars. As of September 2nd, only $9.8 million has been returned to victims, and an additional $81.4 million has been frozen but not yet returned. The report shows that the median time for attackers to start transferring assets after stealing funds is only 17 minutes, with 22% of incidents occurring within the first minute and 68% occurring within one hour. Out of 60 incidents, only 5 were successful in recovering or freezing partial funds, totaling $91.2 million. About 99% of these were achieved through control mechanisms at the protocol or blockchain level, and the freezing of stablecoin issuer addresses and centralized exchange compliance did not result in actual recovery results. In addition, approximately 287 million US dollars of stolen funds are still stored at known hacker addresses, but cannot be directly frozen due to holding assets such as ETH and BTC that lack issuer freezing mechanisms; Another approximately 97.2 million US dollars could theoretically be frozen, but no relevant measures have been taken yet.
