US consumer confidence drops to lowest level in five months due to inflation issues
The US Consumer Confidence Index has slightly declined due to rising prices and interest rates, reaching its lowest level in five months. According to a survey report released on Friday, the final value of the University of Michigan's Consumer Confidence Index fell from 48.1 points in September to 48 points. Nevertheless, this data is still better than preliminary readings and higher than economists' expectations. Consumers expect prices to rise by 4.7% in the next year, higher than last month's forecast of 4.6%; At the same time, it is believed that the cost will increase at an average annual rate of 3.5% in the next five to ten years. Both of these numbers are at their highest levels since May.
