TEXAS REPUBLICAN INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO REPEAL GREEN CARD LOTTERY PROGRAM Texas GOP Rep. Keith Self introduced a bill Thursday to repeal the State Department's Diversity Immigrant Visa lottery, which offers permanent residency to up to 55,000 applicants annually from countries with lower levels of immigration to the United States. The Trump administration attempted to end the program last year after the alleged perpetrator behind shootings at Brown University and MIT used it to enter the country. The alleged shooter was a Portuguese national.
