Congratulations, @ Solana_zh's Alpenglow new consensus has been successfully launched. For ordinary users, there may not be a direct sensory experience yet, but the significance of its upgrade cannot be ignored: 1) The transaction finality has significantly increased, from the original 12.8 seconds to around 150 milliseconds. Its significance is not to make you feel that the transaction has become faster, but to enable the Solana chain to carry more new application scenarios such as high-frequency transactions, agent payments, games, etc. It takes some time to feel the changes; 2) The validator voting transaction is moved off chain, which will release a large amount of block space for user transactions because voting itself no longer releases on chain resources. In theory, this will weaken the competitive barriers of some MeV bot services, as the failure rate of most transactions submitted through aggregation terminals will be significantly reduced; 3) The operating costs of validators have undergone structural changes, with the previous voting transaction fees no longer being charged and replaced by a fixed admission fee paid per epoch. This significantly reduces the participation threshold and long-term costs for small validators, and can enhance the participation and decentralization of validators in the Solana network; Overall, the user side may not see this upgrade as obvious, but from the perspective of network performance, security, and future rich application scenarios, it is highly anticipated.
