Multiple major banks in the United States have discovered unauthorized AI agents entering customer accounts!
According to Axios, large American banks such as Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo are discovering unauthorized third-party AI agents in customer accounts, some of which appear to be operating independently beyond user instructions, such as actively contacting customer service centers.
These agents are mostly authorized by users themselves and logged in with their account passwords, but this violates the rule of most banks that require personal login.
Currently, Morgan Stanley has started blocking third-party AI agents, and JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Citigroup are also restricting their access. Most banks tend to only grant "read-only" access.
However, a spokesperson for Morgan Stanley stated that no "out of control AI agents" have been found accessing its platform.
