Ackermann urges Trump administration to release Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac According to Golden Finance, on October 23rd, Bill Ackerman, founder of Pershing Square, urged the Trump administration to lift the government trusteeship of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac before the end of their term, stating that this move is "crucial" politically. He warned that if a government controlled by the Democratic Party were to govern in the future, these two institutions could be used to attack the Republican Party. After the relevant remarks were made, the stock prices of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the fan list market rose by 22% and 25% respectively. Ackermann has long held stocks of both companies and remains very optimistic about them. As investors become disappointed with the delay in the release of custody, the stock prices of both companies have fallen by about 60% so far this year. US Treasury Secretary Besson stated this week that the government may not address the equity structure issues of the two companies until 2027 or 2028, and emphasized that maintaining stable mortgage rates remains a priority for the government.
