US official: Trump once called Musk to demand lifting of speed limit on Ukrainian Starlink
According to a report by Golden Finance on October 23rd, citing US officials, the Wall Street Journal reported that US President Trump called Musk to lift the speed limit on the Ukrainian military version of Starlink services. Officials said that Trump had expressed to his aides and allies this week that he hoped the speed limit measures would be lifted; Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with the system speed still being limited to about 100 miles per hour (approximately 161 kilometers per hour). After the call, the system gradually resumed normal operation on Thursday, but some Ukrainian officials said it has not been fully restored yet, but the operating speed has improved compared to before. US and Ukrainian officials have stated that the speed limit has prevented some of the Ukrainian military's attack and interception drones from effectively responding to Russian attacks. Michael Koffman, an expert at the Carnegie Foundation for International Peace, said that lifting speed limits will help Ukraine expand its deep strike capabilities and increase the deployment of jet interception drones. The White House cited Trump's previous denial in response to relevant reports; Trump previously denied requesting Musk to limit Starlink speed and denied knowing who issued the order.
