Ethereum research draft plans to shorten transaction finality from about 4 minutes to reduce cross chain transfer costs According to BlockBeats, on October 22nd, Ben Edgington, the coordinator of Ethereum's fast finality research direction, and several researchers submitted a draft to reduce the waiting time for transaction finality from about 16 minutes to about 4 minutes, increasing it by about four times. The current goal is to push the draft into the formal upgrade proposal process. The core idea of the draft is to separate the mechanism of the verifier's original "block selection" and "finalization" merging, so that the finalization can proceed at a faster pace and facilitate the future use of anti quantum signatures. Faster finality is expected to reduce the cost of cross chain transfer services due to capital occupation. The Ethereum Foundation's research provides an example that if a service advances about $1 million per hour, there will be about $267000 to be recovered with a 16 minute delay, which can be reduced to about $67000 after 4 minutes.
